Nazan Koluman
She was born in Mardin in 1969 and completed her primary and secondary education in Izmir. She graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at Ege University in 1989. She completed her Master’s and Ph.D. studies in Sheep and Goat Husbandry and Climate Change at Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture in 2000, where she started as an research assistant in 1989. She became an Assistant Professor in 2001, an Associate Professor in 2003, and a Full Professor in 2008 at the same university. She established Tufanbeyli and Feke Vocational Schools of Çukurova University at rural areas of Adana. Between 2011 and 2014, she served as the director of Feke Vocational School. From 2018 to 2021, she was the Head of the Department of Animal Science and Breeding in the Faculty of Agriculture at Çukurova University, and since September 2023, she has been serving as the Head of the Department of Animal Science at Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture.
She served as a consultant and coordinator for 14 projects located on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border by the United Nations/FAO from 2010 to 2013. She is a member of the peer review and editorial boards of several national and international SCI-Expanded journals. She has contributed to international collaborative work on climate change and livestock and has published reference publications in the world literature. She has served on the management and scientific boards of many NGOs in Adana and Turkey.
In 2018, she founded Koluman-Gen Livestock R&D Company and provides consultancy and mentoring services to the private sector in project planning for agricultural enterprises within the ÇUKUROVA UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT ZONE. She provides international training on Feasibility Preparation and Mentoring, Project Cycle topics. She is a member of the board of the International Goat Union based in the USA. She served as a project referee for the European Union Horizon 2020-SUSAN projects in 2015. Since 2019, she has been working as the “Project Coordinator and Advisor to the Minister” for PDO halloumi cheese registration at the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of Northern Cyprus.
She has published 6 books, 7 international book chapters, and 561 national and international scientific articles. She has been involved in more than 80 national and international projects and has organized 35 Scientific Conferences, 18 of which were international. She is the producer and presenter of the “Small Ruminant Expert” program aired weekly on Farmer TV and ” Small Ruminants and Nazan Hoca” on Village TV in İstanbul-Turkey. She has volunteered in the establishment and project planning of many women’s cooperatives and women’s cooperative unions in Adana. In 2023, she also serves as a consultant for the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Board. She is proficient in English and is a mother of one son.
